02 · Why you can’t switch

Why can’t Entergy Texas customers pick a provider?

Most of Texas is on the ERCOT grid, where you pick a provider. Entergy Texas is on a different grid, called MISO. Texas lawmakers held off on opening the area to competition.

  • Plans compete on price
  • A wires company delivers power

  • Entergy is your only option
  • It makes, delivers and bills

Back in 2007, Texas lawmakers debated how to open Southeast Texas to competition. They held off, and the area still has one regulated company today. The state calls Entergy’s area “outside ERCOT.”
