How does Atlantex Power score?
Atlantex Power earns 57 out of 100, which falls in our “poor” band. It gets full marks for fines and for price. It loses most of its points on complaints, its contract, its short time licensed and the BBB.
- October 16, 2026: 57 at launch.
What could move it: each step on the state’s monthly complaint scorecard is worth 5 points, up or down. Its price sits right on the line for full price points, so even a small rise could cost it. If Atlantex adds a 12-month plan, we’ll score its price and contract again. On December 29, 2028, it reaches five years licensed, worth 2 more points.

| Category | Points | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Complaints to the state | 10 / 25 | 2 of 5 on the PUCT complaint scorecard, September 2026 edition, for March 1 to August 31, 2026. The row covers the whole license, AE Texas included. Power to Choose shows the same 2 on every Atlantex and AE Texas plan. |
| BBB rating | 0 / 5 | F, not accredited, on BBB’s Texas profile named “Atlantic Energy,” which carries the address and phone the company registered with the state (Oct 16, 2026). BBB files that profile under “Solar Energy Contractors,” and no BBB profile uses the Atlantex Power name. BBB shows an A- on the Florida profile for Atlantic Energy Group LLC; scoring that one instead would add 4 points (61, Fair). |
| Fines and penalties | 20 / 20 | We found no PUCT penalty case against Atlantic Energy Texas, LLC (searched under all five names on PUCT Interchange, October 2016 to October 16, 2026) and no Texas Attorney General release naming it. |
| Contract fairness | 5 / 20 | Cancel fee of $20 per month left, up to $180 on Luminous 9 (3 of 5); no arbitration clause, but a class-action waiver (2 of 4); five extra fees, such as $25 to disconnect and $25 for a priority move-in (0 of 4); no simple 12-month plan (0 of 4); no free-cancel days past the legal 3 (0 of 3) |
| Price | 20 / 20 | Power to Choose listed no 12-month Atlantex plan on Oct 16, 2026, so we scored Luminous 9: one energy rate, a $0 base charge and the term closest to 12 months. It costs 14.5¢ in Dallas and 14.2¢ in Houston at 1,000 kWh. The 14.35¢ average is 90% of EIA’s 15.88¢ Texas average for July 2026. |
| Time in business | 2 / 10 | Licensed December 29, 2023, under five years (0); a bill-help fund in its terms (2); at approval in Dec 2023 it filed an unaudited balance sheet, and we found no audited statements (0) |
Why not 2008? The state’s complaint scorecard prints “October 8, 2008” as this license’s date. We used December 29, 2023, the date on the PUCT’s own certificate order, because that record is newer and primary, and the company was formed in 2021. The 2008 date would have added 4 points, for 61 (Fair). Scoring Luminous 36 instead would give it 14 price points and 0 cancel-fee points, for 48.
Atlantex Power quick facts
What do the state and the BBB say about Atlantex Power?
Neither is good news. The state puts its license in the second-worst of five complaint groups. BBB’s Texas profile for the company shows an F. The two grade different things, and the BBB counts for just 5 of our 100 points.
The PUCT labels this group “Higher than Average Rate of Complaints.” It sorts companies into five groups of about equal size, by complaints per 1,000 customers over six months. Every Atlantex and AE Texas plan on Power to Choose shows the same 2.
The F is on BBB’s Texas profile named “Atlantic Energy,” which carries the address and phone the company registered with the state. A BBB search for “Atlantex Power” finds no profile. BBB files this profile under “Solar Energy Contractors.” A Florida profile for Atlantic Energy Group LLC shows an A-; scoring that one instead would add 4 points (61, Fair).
Why we scored the Texas profile. Our formula uses the BBB’s Texas profile for each company. This one is kept by BBB of Greater Houston and South Texas. It lists 2170 Buckthorne Place and (800) 917-9133, the office and main phone on the company’s state license. The Florida profile is for Atlantic Energy Group LLC, not the company that holds the Texas license.

When does my Atlantex plan end, and what happens then?
Your fixed price lasts for your term, 9 or 36 months. After that, Atlantex’s terms put you on a month-to-month price. Its rate sheet, posted July 2024 and running to July 2026, lists 25.9¢ per kWh for energy from June to September and 15.9¢ in other months, plus a $6.95 base charge. Luminous 9’s energy rate is 7.19¢.
Estimates before taxes. Atlantex calls its rate sheet a forecast, and the sheet covers August 2024 to July 2026, so for later months we assume the same summer and off-season pattern. Your real rollover price comes with your expiration notice. The switch line uses today’s Luminous 9 price as a yardstick for a new fixed plan. We don’t save what you enter.

- Atlantex’s energy charge: 7.19¢ fixed, or 25.9¢ on summer rollover$72 / $259
- Rollover base charge$6.95
- Oncor delivery, passed through at cost$73
The math: (25.90¢ + 6.8673¢ delivery) × 1,000 kWh + $6.95 + $4.06 Oncor monthly fee = $338.68. Luminous 9: (7.19¢ + 6.8673¢) × 1,000 kWh + $4.06 = $144.63. The gap is $194.05. Before taxes, from the Oct 16, 2026 fact label and Atlantex’s rate sheet. This is our estimate: the sheet ends July 2026, and we assume the same rates apply in 2027.
Put your end date on your calendar today. A Luminous 9 plan signed this month, October 2026, ends in July 2027. Atlantex says it sends at least 3 notices, usually 90, 60 and 30 days before the end, by mail or email. Once fewer than 14 days are left, its terms drop the cancel fee, so that’s your window to switch.
What does Atlantex Power charge in 2026?
On Oct 16, 2026, Atlantex listed 2 home plans in each area on Power to Choose: Luminous 9 and Luminous 36. Both have one energy rate, a $0 base charge and no bill credits. At 1,000 kWh, Luminous 9 cost 14.5¢ in Dallas and 14.2¢ in Houston, delivery included.
- Atlantex’s energy charge: 7.19¢ per kWh in both cities$72
- Utility delivery, a pass-through charge$70–$73
Our math from the Luminous 9 fact labels of Oct 16, 2026, before taxes.
Shopping in Spanish? On Oct 16, 2026, the Spanish Power to Choose listing showed Luminous 9 in Dallas at 13.6¢ for “10” months. The Spanish fact label it links to says 14.5¢ and “9 Meses,” the same as the English label. Go by the fact label, not the listing.
Your ZIP can change the price. Atlantex’s listing says your rate “may vary on our website after you enter your service zip code.” We also found a second Luminous 9 label for Oncor’s area at 16.4¢. Read the label shown for your exact address before you sign. With no base charge and no bill credit, the price hardly moves between 500 and 2,000 kWh. Plans built on credits work another way, as our guide to bill-credit plans shows.

How many complaints does Atlantex Power get?
More than average for its size, by the state’s measure. Texans filed 54 complaints with the PUCT about Atlantex’s license from April through September 2026. That’s up from 34 in the six months before.
Counts cover every name on the license: Atlantex Power, AE Texas, AE Texas Residential, Flagship Power and JUICE. A complaint is a customer’s claim, not a finding against the company. Data from PUCT Customer Complaint Statistics, pulled Oct 16, 2026. Bars start at zero.
26 were about billing, 10 about shutoffs and 10 about getting service started. Another 8 said a customer was switched without permission, which the PUCT calls slamming.
JUICE and Flagship Power customers moved to AE Texas and Atlantex on March 6, 2025. Complaints went from 1 in January and February 2025 to 9 in March and 12 in April. The PUCT’s data shows the timing, not the reason.
By raw count, its 54 complaints tied for 12th-most among 142 companies on the PUCT’s list for those months. Big companies get more complaints, so the state’s rating adjusts for size. It also counts each one “irrespective of whether or not the company was determined to be at fault,” even if the company resolved it. Compare companies on our page of Texas electricity complaints.
How long has Atlantex Power been in business?
Not long. Its company, Atlantic Energy Texas, LLC, was formed on August 4, 2021. The PUCT licensed it on December 29, 2023, and Atlantex launched in Texas in October 2024. As of October 16, 2026, that’s about 2 years and 9 months licensed.
- Gainline Capital Partners announces an investment in Atlantic Energy, then “Headquartered in Deerfield Beach, FL.”
- Atlantic Energy Texas, LLC is formed in Texas.
- Its first license request, filed that August, is withdrawn.
- The PUCT grants retail electric provider certificate 10335.
- Atlantic announces its Texas launch, with two brands: Atlantex Power and AE Texas.
- The first 2 complaints reach the PUCT.
- JUICE and Flagship Power customers move to AE Texas and Atlantex.
- Its letter of credit, a bank promise filed with the PUCT, doubles to $1.5 million “to reflect the increase in the number of customers served.”
- The PUCT adds the Flagship Power and JUICE names to its license.
- Five years licensed, worth 2 more points on our scorecard.
Why not 2008? The state’s complaint scorecard prints “October 8, 2008” next to this license. We didn’t use it. We used the PUCT’s certificate order instead: it’s the primary record, and its date, December 29, 2023, is the newer one. Texas business records show the company was formed in 2021. A related company, Atlantic Energy, says it has been “serving customers since 2012.”
Has Atlantex Power been fined?
Not in Texas, by the public record. We searched the PUCT’s case files for Atlantic Energy, Atlantex, AE Texas, Atlantas, Flagship and JUICE. We found only licensing cases. A search of the Texas Attorney General’s site found no lawsuit or settlement either. Searches like these can’t catch a deal that was never made public.
Before the sale, JUICE and Flagship Power belonged to MI Texas REP 1, LLC. A July 2024 PUCT order covered an $81,750 penalty against that company, which was paid that August. The order says it “authorized the disconnection of service without proper notice” on 109 occasions from October 2022 to June 2023. It isn’t Atlantex, so it isn’t in our score.
Atlantic Energy said it settled a New York regulator’s inquiry and “committed to providing restitution to customers affected by the noncompliance allegations.” It said new managers had taken over in summer 2023. Our formula counts only Texas actions.
Who owns Atlantex Power, and where is it located?
Atlantex Power is a trade name of Atlantic Energy Texas, LLC, with an office in The Woodlands, Texas. The company’s own press releases call Atlantex and AE Texas “the Texas brands of Atlantic Energy.” Its investor, Gainline Capital Partners, lists Atlantic Energy as an active holding in The Woodlands.
- 1Gainline Capital PartnersPrivate equity firm, Stamford, Conn. · invested in Atlantic Energy in July 2021 · its September 2026 fact sheet lists it as “Active” · size of its stake not public

- 4Atlantex PowerOne of five names on the license, with AE Texas, AE Texas Residential, Flagship Power and JUICE
What we couldn’t confirm. No public filing we found shows who owns what share. None says Atlantic Energy Group LLC owns the Texas company directly. A 2025 PUCT filing does list both on one bank agreement, signed by the same chief financial officer.
Why two brands? Atlantic’s 2024 launch release says “Atlantex is focused on premier digital shopping platforms,” while AE Texas sells plans with “AE Connect, a suite of smart home products.” The same release says it buys power under a long-term supply deal with a U.S. arm of Mitsui & Co.
Where it’s based. The office on its state license is in The Woodlands, and customer mail goes to PO Box 7780 in Spring, Texas. In 2021, Gainline described Atlantic as based in Deerfield Beach, Florida. By its 2026 fact sheet, the listed home was The Woodlands.
Came from JUICE or Flagship? In March 2025, Atlantic took over the JUICE and Flagship Power customers of another Texas seller, MI Texas REP 1. It says “all customer terms and conditions, including rate plans, remained unchanged.”
What is Atlantex Power’s early termination fee?
It’s $20 for each month left in your term, its fact label says. That’s up to $180 on Luminous 9 and $720 on Luminous 36. Its terms waive the fee when fewer than 14 days are left, or when you move.
$20 times the months left, from Atlantex’s fact labels and terms of Oct 16, 2026. Bars start at zero.
- No arbitration clause; the terms name courts in Montgomery County, Texas
- At least 3 written notices before your plan ends
- $0 cancel fee with under 14 days left, or when you move
- No base charge and no minimum-use fee on either plan
- Spanish terms and fact labels, and information in Spanish on request
- You give up class actions and jury trials
- A $25 disconnection fee, even when the power stays on
- $2 to pay a live agent by phone, so pay online instead
- Only the 3 free-cancel days Texas law requires
- With a solar meter, decline its solar program and it can end your plan on 14 days’ notice and move you to a variable rate
What can change a “fixed” price? The fact label says your price “may be adjusted to reflect changes in charges from the TDU,” changes in state and grid fees, “or other costs and expenses incurred by Atlantex Power.” Read that box on the label before you sign.
How to leave. To switch, sign up with the new company; our guide below covers the steps. Atlantex’s cancellation form is for stopping service, and it warns your power “will be DISCONNECTED” once the request is done. Moving? The same form lets you upload proof of the move to waive the fee. Changed your mind after signing up? Texas gives you 3 federal business days after you get the terms to cancel for free. Bills are due at least 16 days after they’re issued, and a deposit may be asked for based on your payment history and credit.
Keep readingHow to switch electricity companies with no gapThinking about AE Texas instead?
It’s the same company. AE Texas runs on the same license, 10335, with matching terms, the same fees and the same $20-a-month cancel fee. On Oct 16, 2026, it listed its 9- and 36-month plans 1.8¢ per kWh lower than Atlantex in every area.
Power to Choose English listings, Oct 16, 2026, delivery included. The 36-month plans show the same 1.8¢ gap. Bars start at zero.
The math. 1.8¢ × 1,000 kWh = $18 a month. Over a 9-month term, $18 × 9 = $162. Over 36 months, $18 × 36 = $648. The gap is all in the energy charge: 5.39¢ for AE Texas against 7.19¢ for Atlantex on the 9-month plans.
Both names share one complaint rating, 2 of 5, because the state rates the license, not the brand. Atlantic says AE Texas pairs plans with smart-home products, while Atlantex sells through online shopping sites. Before you sign with either, check the PUCT certificate number in its documents: both brands show 10335. Want a higher-rated company instead? Start with the ranking.
