Short answer

About $18,000 to $30,000 installed, by Energywell’s estimate. EcoFlow doesn’t post a price, so you get a quote from an installer. Energywell, which offers OCEAN Pro systems in Texas, says a comparable system and install normally costs $18,000–$30,000. Online stores list the inverter and one 10 kWh battery from $9,598, parts only. The 30% federal credit ended for homeowners after 2025. In Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, Energywell installs one for $0 upfront if you buy your power from it.

01 · The price

How much does an EcoFlow OCEAN Pro cost?

EcoFlow doesn’t publish a price. It sells the OCEAN Pro only through installers, and none of the 425 products in its U.S. online store is an OCEAN item. So we gathered every real dollar figure we could find, with the date we found it.

Every OCEAN Pro price we foundOct 15, 2026

Store prices are sale prices seen on Oct 15, 2026, and change often. Parts prices leave out the smart panel, installation, permits and utility approval. Sources: Energywell, Think+, Shop Solar Kits, EcoFlow’s store and Energywell’s Texas battery agreement.

What else goes into an installed price

  • A certified installer. EcoFlow says the OCEAN Pro “requires certified installer with local utility & authority having jurisdiction approval.”
  • A smart panel or gateway. It decides which circuits stay on in an outage. EcoFlow’s 8-circuit panel also carries 32 standard circuits.
  • Permits. Houston needs only a service-connection permit now. Dallas still reviews zoning, building and fire, with a $577 plan review fee plus inspection fees. See the permit rules.
  • Extra electrical work. An older panel or a long wire run can add to the quote. Ask for it in writing before you sign.

Why no price tag? EcoFlow’s 2025 launch notice says buyers “place their order through an authorized EcoFlow installation partner.” Each installer sets its own price, so two quotes for the same system can differ.

02 · Parts math

What do the OCEAN Pro parts cost for your size?

Pick a size. This adds up the inverter and batteries at the prices two online stores showed on Oct 15, 2026. It’s the floor of your cost, before the panel, labor and permits.

How much battery?
About $16,600 in parts for 20 kWhOne 24 kW inverter ($2,799) plus two 10 kWh batteries ($6,899 each). A store bundle lists it for $16,389.

Up to 40 kWh, Energywell installs it for $0 upfront in parts of Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, in exchange for a 15-year agreement and your power plan.

Parts only, not a quote. Battery price: $6,899 per 10 kWh module and $2,799 for the inverter, from two online solar stores on Oct 15, 2026; bundles can cost less. One inverter takes up to 8 batteries. EcoFlow’s warranty is written for buyers who purchase through an installer, so ask any store how warranty claims work before you buy.

Get these 4 things in writing

  1. 1
    The brand and size

Energywell’s pages say OCEAN Pro, but its agreement says the company “will select the brand and model.” Ask for “EcoFlow OCEAN Pro” and your kWh on the paperwork.

  2. 2
    Your usage can go up

Energywell’s terms say your use “may increase,” because it may charge the battery from the grid. You pay for that power.

  3. 3
    Keep the Wi-Fi on

The agreement needs a working internet link. If the company loses access, a fee of $5 a day can apply, up to $100.

  4. 4
The 20% reserve is a goal

Energywell makes “reasonable efforts” to keep 20% charged for outages. The agreement says that isn’t guaranteed.

04 · The specs

What can an OCEAN Pro power? The specs in plain words

It’s a whole-home battery that’s wired in for good, not a plug-in power station. Here’s what EcoFlow’s own datasheets say, and what each number means for a Texas house.

Award: TIME put the OCEAN Pro on its Best Inventions of 2025 list. TIME’s entry, dated Oct 9, 2025, calls it a “stand-out home energy backup.”

EcoFlow launched the OCEAN Pro in the U.S. on July 15, 2025. Its launch notice says it was built with states like California, Texas and Florida in mind, and that it builds on EcoFlow’s PowerOcean system sold in Europe.

05 · Runtime

How long would an OCEAN Pro run your house in an outage?

It depends on three things: how many batteries you have, how full they are, and what you run. Central AC is the big one. Try it.

How long could it run your home?Rough estimate
Battery size
What you run
Charge when the power goes out
About 20 hoursRunning the basics on a full 20 kWh battery
Your battery
About 20 hours
A closed fridge keeps food cold
About 4 hours (FDA)
Average Winter Storm Uri outage
42 hours (University of Houston)
A full freezer holds its cold
About 48 hours (FDA)

Illustrative only, not a promise of backup. Our round numbers: the basics (fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, fans) at about 1 kW, central AC with the basics at about 3 kW, and most of a home at about 5 kW. Real use swings with the weather and your home. Don’t rely on it for medical equipment.

How many batteries do you need?

  • A day of basics: about 1 kW for 24 hours is 24 kWh, so three batteries (30 kWh).
  • Central AC overnight: about 3 kW for 12 hours is 36 kWh, so four batteries (40 kWh). That’s the most Energywell’s program installs.
  • A long outage: plan on a recharge. Solar or a 2.5–10 kW generator can refill the batteries.

Most homes don’t need to back up everything. The smart panel picks the circuits that stay on, so your fridge and AC keep runing while the dryer waits. For more on what to do when the lights go out, see who to call in a Texas power outage.

Pick the OCEAN Pro if

  • You want whole-home backup, central AC included
  • You have solar, or will add a lot of it
  • You want the 15-year warranty and an outdoor-rated unit

Pick the DELTA Pro Ultra if

  • You want backup for a few circuits at a lower price
  • You rent, or may move, and want to take it with you
  • You don’t want a contract or a power plan tied to it

Which EcoFlow name is which?

  • OCEAN Pro: the installed whole-home system on this page, sold in the U.S. since July 2025.
  • PowerOcean: EcoFlow’s home battery line in Europe. EcoFlow says the OCEAN Pro builds on it, with “over 17,000 installations across Europe.”
  • DELTA Pro Ultra: the portable, stackable power station sold on EcoFlow’s store.
  • DELTA Pro Ultra X: the model EcoFlow compares with the OCEAN Pro on its own page. EcoFlow says it’s “typically installed within 7 days of delivery.”

07 · Tax credit

Does the OCEAN Pro still get the 30% tax credit?

Not if you buy it for your home. The IRS says the 30% homeowner credit “is not available for any property placed in service after December 31, 2025.”

Read old ads with care. On Oct 15, 2026, the search description of EcoFlow’s OCEAN Pro quote page still said: “Maximize your savings with a 30% federal tax credit.” The IRS also says paying in 2025 doesn’t help if the install finished in 2026.

Federal tax credit status for a home battery in 2026
Who owns the batteryCreditStatus in 2026
You buy itResidential clean energy credit (25D), 30%Gone for systems placed in service after Dec 31, 2025
A company owns it, like EnergywellBusiness clean electricity credit (48E)Still in IRS guidance for storage, with new limits on projects started after 2025
Who keeps it in Energywell’s programThe company. Its Texas agreement says it keeps “all federal and state tax credits,” and that this helps make the $0 install possible.

Two takeaways. If you buy an OCEAN Pro yourself, price it with no federal credit. And if a seller’s math still counts a 30% credit for a 2026 install, ask them to show you the IRS rule. This page isn’t tax advice, so check with a tax pro for your situation. More on the change: what solar costs in Texas without the credit.

08 · Warranty

What does the 15-year OCEAN Pro warranty cover?

EcoFlow covers the battery, inverter, smart panel and meter backup switch for 15 years. The battery should keep at least 70% of its capacity after 15 years or 6,000 charge cycles.

EcoFlow OCEAN Pro warranty by part

The 3 lines to read before you buy

  1. 1
    Flood-resistant isn’t flood-covered

EcoFlow says the OCEAN Pro can withstand up to 3.3 feet of water. Its warranty still excludes products “damaged by fire, flood, lightning” and other force majeure events. In a Houston floodplain, ask about placement and your home insurance.

  2. 2
    Buy it through an installer

The warranty is for first buyers who purchase “through an installer,” in the U.S. It starts on the day the products are delivered.

  3. 3
In a $0 program, the company owns it

Energywell’s agreement says the company “makes no warranties” itself. It passes the maker’s warranty to you “to the extent assignable,” and it repairs the battery during the 15 years.

Two capacity numbers, two documents
EcoFlow warranty: at least this much left at 15 years70%
Energywell agreement: counts as “Inoperable” below20%

EcoFlow’s 70% is a warranty promise for owners. Energywell’s 20% is when its own agreement treats the battery as no longer working, which starts its repair-or-replace clock.

09 · Permits

Do you need a permit for an OCEAN Pro in Texas?

Usually, but less than before. Since Sept. 1, 2025, a state law (SB 1252) says Texas cities can’t regulate or inspect a home backup system of 50 kW or less, or 100 kWh or less. One OCEAN Pro inverter is 24 kW.

Who checks a home battery install in Houston, Dallas and the rest of Texas
HoustonDallasAll of Texas
Does the city inspect the battery? No. The city says it “will not inspect the generator, invertor, or batteries.”No, but it still enforces zoning and building codesSB 1252 bars cities for systems of 50 kW or less, or 100 kWh or less
What permit?A service-connection (cut-in) permit. CenterPoint isn’t released to reconnect until it passes.Zoning, building and fire review, plus an electrical permit for wiring changesLicensed Texas electricians and the electrical code still apply

Third-party review?Yes, under SB 1202Yes, with a homeowner hold-harmless letterSB 1202: the city must approve within 3 business days

City-owned utilities, like Denton’s and Garland’s, can still set their own rules. Sources: Texas Legislature, City of Houston, City of Dallas, TDLR.

Where it can go in your home

Model codes cap home battery storage by location, unless fire-test data allows more. By UL’s summary of those codes: 20 kWh per unit, 40 kWh in a utility closet, basement or storage space, and 80 kWh in a garage, on an outside wall or outdoors. Each OCEAN Pro module is 10 kWh. EcoFlow’s guide also says that in a garage, “keep it away from the driveway.”

Your install checklist

  • A licensed electrician does the wiring. You can look up any Texas license with TDLR.
  • The permit is pulled and the inspection passes before your utility reconnects you.
  • Shade and space. It cuts power above 113°F, so skip a west wall in full sun.
  • Floodplain check. In Houston, the city says to contact its Floodplain Management Office first if your site is in a floodplain.
  • Utility approval if you add solar, so the system can connect to the grid.
10 · Savings

Will an OCEAN Pro lower your Texas electric bill?

Maybe, but don’t count on EcoFlow’s savings example. It’s modeled on a California home with 11 kW of solar, a 20 kWh battery and the California utility PG&E’s 2025 export rate.

  • No solar? A battery alone mostly buys backup, not savings. It can save money only if your plan charges less at some hours than others.
  • With solar, what you’re paid for extra power depends on your plan. See how Texas solar buyback plans work.
  • Grid programs are growing. ERCOT’s pilot for groups of home batteries reached 293 of its 500 MW cap by Sept. 25, 2026, “driven largely by residential battery installations.”

Why battery programs come with a power plan. In the main option of ERCOT’s pilot, every home in a group must have the same retail electricity company and the same utility. That’s how the pilot works. It isn’t a statement about any one company’s program. Energywell calls its own network of batteries a “Connected Energy Community.”

11 · The verdict

Is the EcoFlow OCEAN Pro worth it?

On paper, it’s one of the strongest home batteries you can buy: big power, a 15-year warranty and an outdoor rating. The hard part is the price, and in Texas that’s the part you may be able to skip.

OCEAN Pro at a glanceNot scored: we don’t score products
What stands out
  • 24 kW per inverter and a 205 A motor-start surge
  • 10 to 80 kWh, in 10 kWh steps
  • 15-year warranty, at least 70% capacity at 15 years
  • IP67, rated for indoor or outdoor use
  • Takes up to 40 kW of solar and a generator
What to watch
  • No public price; quotes vary by installer
  • No 30% homeowner tax credit for 2026 installs
  • The warranty excludes fire and flood damage
  • Power is reduced above 113°F
  • Heavy: 245.8 lb per battery, installer only

Worth a look if you own your home, lose power often and want whole-home backup with AC. Think twice if you rent, may move soon, or only need a few circuits: a plug-in DELTA Pro Ultra costs far less.

12 · Questions

EcoFlow OCEAN Pro questions, answered

Straight answers, from EcoFlow’s and Energywell’s own documents.

How much does an EcoFlow OCEAN Pro cost installed?

EcoFlow doesn’t publish a price. Energywell says a comparable system and install normally costs about $18,000 to $30,000. Parts alone run $9,598 for the inverter and one 10 kWh battery at one online store on Oct 15, 2026, before the panel, labor and permits.

Why doesn’t EcoFlow list an OCEAN Pro price?

It sells the OCEAN Pro only through installers, who set their own prices after looking at your home. Its U.S. online store doesn’t carry any OCEAN item. You get a price by asking for a quote.

Can I get an EcoFlow OCEAN Pro for free in Texas?

Not free, but $0 upfront in parts of Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Energywell installs and owns the system under a 15-year agreement, and you buy your power from Energywell. It’s for owners of single-family homes with no solar.

Does the OCEAN Pro qualify for the 30% tax credit in 2026?

Not for homeowners who buy it. The IRS says the 30% residential credit isn’t available for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. In Energywell’s $0 program, the company owns the battery and keeps any tax credits.

Can an OCEAN Pro run central air conditioning?

Yes. Its inverter gives 24 kW of continuous power and a 205-amp motor-start surge. EcoFlow says it can run two 5-ton AC systems. How long it runs your AC depends on your battery size and charge.

How many OCEAN Pro batteries does a house need?

Each battery holds 10 kWh. As a rough guide, about 1 kW of basics for a day needs three batteries, and central AC with the basics overnight needs about four. One inverter takes up to eight batteries, or 80 kWh.

Is the OCEAN Pro the same as the DELTA Pro Ultra?

No. The OCEAN Pro is installed in your home, with 24 kW of output and 10 kWh batteries. The DELTA Pro Ultra is a portable plug-in unit with 7.2 kW of output and 6.1 kWh batteries. It sells for $4,199 on EcoFlow’s store.

Is EcoFlow PowerOcean the same as the OCEAN Pro?

Not quite. PowerOcean is EcoFlow’s home battery line in Europe. EcoFlow says the OCEAN Pro, launched in the U.S. in July 2025, builds on PowerOcean, which it says has over 17,000 installs in Europe.

Does the OCEAN Pro need solar panels?

No. It can charge from the grid and work as backup on its own. It can also take up to 40 kW of solar, and it can recharge from a 2.5–10 kW portable generator in a long outage.

Can the OCEAN Pro go outside in the Texas heat?

Yes. It’s rated IP67 and works from −4°F to 140°F. But EcoFlow says its power is reduced above 113°F, so a shaded wall is better than one in full afternoon sun.

Does the OCEAN Pro warranty cover flood damage?

No. EcoFlow’s warranty excludes products damaged by fire, flood, lightning and other force majeure events, even though it markets the battery as able to withstand up to 3.3 feet of water.

Do I need a permit for an OCEAN Pro in Houston or Dallas?

Yes, but a smaller one than before. Since Sept. 1, 2025, Houston inspects only the service connection, not the battery. Dallas still runs zoning, building and fire review, with a $577 plan review fee plus other fees.
