The short answer

ComEd pays $40 to $750 back on common home appliances if you buy by December 31, 2026. Lower-income homes get larger amounts, such as $150 for a clothes washer instead of $40. Some homes get products and help free. Amounts were as listed on ComEd's pages on November 2, 2026, and ComEd says offers can change. Heat pump amounts depend on the system, so we send you to ComEd's page for them instead of quoting a number that may be old. Solar and batteries have their own pages, linked below.

The 4 things to know

  • Two price lists exist. One is for everyone. One pays more if your household income is low enough.
  • Buy first, then check. Some items need a rebate form or a coupon, so read the steps before you pay.
  • Solar and batteries are not here. They have their own rules and their own pages.
  • Amounts can change. ComEd says its offers are subject to change.

01 · The finder

What would my ComEd rebates add up to?

Use the finder first. It adds up the rebates for the items you check, and it uses the higher amounts if your income is at or under the limit. The lists below it show every line.

What are you buying or replacing?

Check what you plan to buy. Your rebates show here.

Buy appliances by December 31, 2026, and apply within 60 days of buying or by February 28, 2027, whichever comes first.

How we got this: each line is the amount ComEd lists for that item, added up. "Up to" means the top amount, and your real amount may be lower. Amounts change without notice, so confirm each one with ComEd before you buy. A guide, not a promise of payment.

This is a guide built from ComEd's published amounts. ComEd decides every rebate, so confirm the amount before you buy.

    02 · Dates

What are the dates and rules?

These are the dates and rules ComEd lists on its appliance rebate application, read on November 2, 2026.

    1. Buy by December 31, 2026The appliance must be bought by this day. A smart thermostat must also be installed and registered with its maker by then
    2. Apply within 60 daysApply within 60 days of buying, or by February 28, 2027, whichever comes first
    3. Have your papersYour ComEd account number, the receipt, the model number, the maker and the store
    4. Call with questions855-530-5783, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central, or Rebates@ComEd.com
    • Buy ENERGY STAR. The model must be ENERGY STAR certified. Select induction cooktops and ranges are the one exception.
    • Install it at your ComEd address. The appliance must go in at the delivery address on your ComEd account.
    • Renting? If the account is in someone else's name, the form needs a completed payee release.
    • Water heaters. The $750 heat pump water heater rebate is for one bought from 7/1/2026 to 12/31/2026, directly from a retailer. Buying through a contractor does not qualify.
    • Dehumidifiers and induction. Only stand-alone, portable dehumidifiers qualify. Portable and dual fuel induction models do not.
    • Limits. ComEd says quantity limits apply to every product, and offers can change.
    • Instant coupons. Some retailers give an instant coupon at checkout instead of a rebate.
    03 · Appliances

What are the standard appliance rebates?

These are the amounts ComEd lists for most homes. You can claim them online, by mail, at checkout in a store, or with an instant coupon, depending on the item.

Small items pay a few dollars each. Smart plugs pay up to $6 and weatherization products up to $3 on the standard list. The income-based list pays up to $7 for a smart plug, up to $13 for a power strip, up to $9 for a showerhead and up to $5 for weatherization products.

    04 · Heating and cooling

    What do heat pumps pay?

A heat pump heats and cools your home with electricity. ComEd pays for it through a contractor, so the contractor handles most of the form.

ComEd sets heat pump amounts by system type, size and efficiency, and the amounts have changed in the last year. We could not find a current amount on a ComEd or Illinois Commerce Commission page, so we do not print one. Wrong is worse than missing. Open ComEd's heating and cooling discounts page for the amounts that apply today, and ask the contractor to put the discount in writing before you sign.

ComEd says a contractor trained on its heat pump program applies the discount when you buy, so you do not send in a form. Ducted, ductless and geothermal systems are all listed on that page.

The guide also mentions a federal tax credit. That credit is ending, so do not count on it. See our guide to Illinois battery and home incentives for what remains.

    05 · Free programs

Which homes get the free help?

Some homes get free products or free equipment, not just a rebate. ComEd uses household income, set at 80 percent of the area median.

    • Whole Home Electric: a free heat pump, heat pump water heater, induction range and dryer. The limit is $67,150 for 1 person, $76,750 for 2, $86,350 for 3 and $95,900 for 4.
    • Home Energy Savings: a free home check and free products. Call 855-433-2700.
    • Energy-saving kits: free, through your community action agency.
    • Food pantry products: energy-saving items given out at some pantries.

Funding for Whole Home Electric is used up for 2026 for most homes, as noted above. Homes that heat with propane are still eligible.

    06 · Renters

    What about renters?

Renters can claim most appliance rebates, because the item moves with you. Heat pumps and geothermal need the owner's say, so ask your landlord first. The finder lists those as a note for renters, not as money you can count on.

    07 · Solar and batteries

Which ComEd pages cover solar and batteries?

We keep those rebates on separate pages so each one gets the room it needs.

    08 · Claiming

How do I claim a rebate without losing it?

    • Read the item's steps first. Some rebates are at checkout, some are online, and some are by mail.
    • Keep the receipt and the model number. You may need both.
    • Check the model is on ComEd's list. Not every model qualifies.
    • Do not stack two discounts on one item. Ask first.
    • Ask your limit. ComEd says quantity limits apply to every product but does not print the numbers on its application page. Call 855-530-5783 and ask how many of each item one account can claim.
    • Watch the dates. Offers end without much notice.
    09 · Quick answers

    Questions, answered

How long does a ComEd rebate take?

ComEd's application page does not give a set number of days. Call 855-530-5783 on a weekday to ask where yours stands.

How do I check the status of my ComEd rebate?
