Short answer

Sunworks is closed, but a repair company now services many of its systems. The Utah-based installer and three of its companies stopped work and filed Chapter 7 in February 2024. In March 2025, EnergyAid bought Sunworks’ and Solcius’ customer records. Sunworks can’t honor its own install warranty. Keep paying your loan, and use the makers’ warranties for parts.

Your Sunworks system in 60 seconds

Sunworks can’t help, but EnergyAid and your part makers can.

  1. Ask EnergyAid if your system is in the records it bought in 2025.
  2. Call the maker of any failed part. That warranty is theirs, not Sunworks’.
  3. Keep paying your lender. The loan didn’t end when Sunworks did.

08 · Quick answers

Sunworks bankruptcy questions, answered

Is Sunworks still in business?

No. Sunworks and three of its companies stopped work and filed Chapter 7 in February 2024. In Chapter 7, the company closes and a trustee sells what remains. Its CEO and board resigned, and Nasdaq moved to remove its stock from trading.

When did Sunworks file for bankruptcy?

Sunworks filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on February 5, 2024, along with three of its companies. It stopped operating at the same time. Days earlier, it had announced new funding promises, which shows good news isn’t proof a company is safe.

Who is the Sunworks bankruptcy trustee?

Jeoffrey Burtch was appointed Chapter 7 trustee, Sunworks said in a February 2024 SEC filing. The trustee sells what’s left and pays creditors in the order the law sets. You can follow the trustee’s filings on PACER under Delaware case 24-10215.

Is my Sunworks warranty still good?

It depends on which one. Equipment warranties come from the panel, inverter and battery makers, so they often still count. The install warranty from Sunworks itself, which covered the labor, is likely worthless now. Hold on to repair quotes and receipts, and call the maker about failed parts.

Is there a Sunworks customer service number?

No. Sunworks closed in February 2024, so no one answers for it. For service, ask EnergyAid, which bought Sunworks’ customer records in 2025, or hire a licensed installer. For case questions, check the trustee’s filings on PACER.

Do I still have to pay my Sunworks solar loan?

Usually, yes. The bankruptcy didn’t cancel your loan, because a lender holds it, not Sunworks. Stay current on payments, and send your lender questions in writing. Talk to the lender before you stop paying, since a missed payment can dent your credit.

Can I file a claim against Sunworks?

If Sunworks owes you money, search PACER for Delaware case 24-10215 and check any court notice you got. Claim deadlines may have passed. If Sunworks kept a deposit for a system it never installed, the first $3,800 of that claim gets special priority.

Where did Sunworks install solar?

Sunworks worked in California, Texas, the Southwest, the Carolinas, Florida and the Northeast, trade reporting found. It installed home, business and farm solar systems. So Sunworks owners are spread across many states, not just one region. Your state’s license lookup can help you find a new installer.

How many systems did Sunworks install?

Sunworks put in 27,405 solar systems over more than 20 years, adding over 224 megawatts of solar, according to trade reporting. That’s why its shutdown left so many owners looking for new help with repairs and warranties. Check your contract for your system’s parts and warranties.

Why did Sunworks go bankrupt?

High interest rates hurt home solar sales, and Sunworks’ home solar business shrank 44.5%, trade reporting found. Even after it got more time on its debts and new funding promises, it shut down and filed Chapter 7 in February 2024.

Could you tell Sunworks was in trouble?

There were signs, like falling home sales. But Sunworks also announced new funding promises days before it closed. That’s the lesson: watch what a company does, like stalled work and layoffs, not just what it announces. Use our checker above to spot trouble early.

How do I avoid scams after Sunworks’ bankruptcy?

Some callers pose as Sunworks or as the company that replaced it. Hang up and look them up yourself before paying anything. Maker warranties stay active for free. If an offer feels pushy, tell your state’s consumer protection office.

Who services Sunworks systems now?

In 2025, a repair company called EnergyAid bought Sunworks’ and Solcius’ customer records, Solar Power World reported. It says it will monitor and maintain those systems. Ask about prices before any work. You can also use any licensed installer. Keep your monitoring login handy.

I bought from Solcius. Is that Sunworks?

Yes. Solcius was one of Sunworks’ home solar companies, and it closed with Sunworks in 2024. Everything on this page applies to Solcius customers too. EnergyAid bought Solcius customer records along with Sunworks’ records. Check your contract to be sure which company you signed with.
