The short answer

Energywell has almost no independent reviews in Illinois yet. The one review site we found shows 5 reviews, all five stars, and none of them mentions Illinois. The Citizens Utility Board had no reports from customers who signed up as of August 2, 2026. So judge the offer on its signed agreement.

Two answers to one question: one part of Energywell's Illinois page says your rate deal renews after five years. Another part says two. We read it twice on October 25, 2026, so get your term in writing before you sign.

What reviews of Energywell exist?

Energywell sells a home battery and a power plan together in ComEd's area. It is new here, so the record is thin. On October 25, 2026, we found one review listing. It is on Trustindex, a service businesses use to collect and show their Google reviews.

The 5 Energywell reviews we found (Trustindex, read October 25, 2026)
Date postedStarsWhat it says
June 9, 20265Good service and a fast install
March 19, 20265A pilot install, in Texas
March 18, 20265Lower bills and a battery at no cost
March 18, 20265Savings, and a backup test by the installer
January 7, 20255Stars only, no words

All five came from Google. The listing says Energywell has claimed the profile. None of the five says it is from Illinois, and the most detailed one describes a pilot install in Texas.

We also looked for Illinois records. We could not confirm any Better Business Bureau profile for Energywell. The state also keeps a list of complaints about power suppliers. Its latest list, for November 2025 to April 2026, has no row for Fanfare Energy, which sells Energywell's power.

Reviews a company gathers for its own website work like a sales tool. A stranger who owes the company nothing gives you a truer picture.

02 · The math

What can a few five-star reviews prove?

Say five people all give a company five stars. That does not mean every customer is happy. With so few reviews, the true share could be far lower. Type any numbers to see the range.

What can a few reviews prove?

This shows the range the math allows. It can't tell whether the reviews are real, from different people, or picked by the company.

Who runs the Illinois offer?

Energywell's Illinois page says your power comes from Fanfare Energy, LLC, doing business as Energywell. It lists two Illinois Commerce Commission docket numbers: 26-0011 and 26-0381. Energywell Home, LLC runs the battery side. Its mailing address is in Connecticut. It says it also holds licenses in New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The Citizens Utility Board's guide adds two facts. Energywell is tied to an existing power supplier, and the offer is sold through a network of advisors.

Energywell posts its Battery Service Agreement online. You can read all of it before you hand over any personal details.

04 · The battery

What battery do you get?

Energywell installs EcoFlow OCEAN Pro batteries, 10 kWh each, and up to four at one home. That's up to 40 kWh in all. For scale, one Base Power battery holds 39.2 kWh. Energywell owns the batteries for the whole 15-year term.

One Base Core battery outside near the meter, and some homes get two.

Where do Energywell's own pages disagree?

We read Energywell's Illinois page twice on October 25, 2026. Here is where it did not match itself, its other papers or the CUB guide.

How long is the rate term? Four answers
Where it says itThe term it gives
Energywell's Illinois page, one sectionRenews after 5 years
Energywell's Illinois page, the FAQ2 years
Energywell's terms of service, October 1, 202624 billing cycles
The Citizens Utility Board's guide, July 20265 years
  • What "comparable" means. Its lowest-rate promise counts a lower rate only if it is listed on the Power to Choose website. That is the Texas plan site, not an Illinois one. Ask which list counts here.
  • The deposit. CUB says Energywell charges a $99 deposit, refunded after the install and your first bill. We did not see a deposit on the Illinois offer page.
  • The price. The offer page shows savings only as a percent below ComEd's price. The terms of service list cents: 7.577¢ on-peak and 7.274¢ off-peak from October 1, 2026. Ask which price is in your contract.
  • The install date. Energywell says Illinois installs take longer because of permits and utility approval. It gives no timeline, and it says spots are limited.
06 · Before you sign

What should you ask before you sign?

  1. 1
    Get the agreements first.

Ask for both the battery agreement and the power agreement.

  2. 2
Ask which term is in yours.

Two years, five years, or 24 billing cycles.

  3. 3
    Get the price in cents.

Ask for on-peak and off-peak, in writing.

  4. 4
    Ask for an install date.

Also ask what happens to your power start date if it slips.

  5. 5
    Know your 10-day window.

You can cancel a supplier switch within 10 days after ComEd processes it.

  6. 6
    Read the exit costs.

CUB lists $500, or $15,000 if the battery can't be recovered. Our Base vs Energywell guide explains each case.

Where to next

What do you want to do next?

Before you sign a 15-year battery deal, check solar.

Energywell's deal blocks solar for 15 years unless it agrees. See if solar fits your roof first. It's free, and it says so if it's not a fit.
