An out-of-date tax-credit promise
Kin Home’s FAQ says buying solar “may qualify you for up to a 30% tax credit.” For homeowners who buy, that credit ended on December 31, 2025.
The line is on its about page. A 2026 post on the same site says the credit ended, so the company contradicts itself. The FAQ line cost Kin Home 4 points for honest tax-credit claims.
It matters because complaints show the same problem. One buyer said a rep promised about a $12,000 tax credit and an early loan payoff. Neither came true. Use the checker below before you count on any credit.

76 complaints: slow service and door-to-door reps
Kin Home replied to every one of its 30 newest BBB complaints. Slow replies came up most.
One owner said panels stopped working in mid-2025, and weeks of calls, texts and emails brought no technician. Six complaints were about door-to-door reps who kept coming back to homes with no-soliciting signs. Eleven were about sales promises that did not hold.
Some company replies said only that it could not find the customer’s record. In one 2026 reply, Kin Home said it dropped a past install partner over quality. The BBB has raised no pattern alert, so the complaints cost no points.
How Kin Home scores 56
Kin Home earned full marks for its legal record, BBB grade and install team. Paperwork and price cost it 36 points.
Kin Home missed 44 points. Contract terms cost 21, because we found no warranty in writing. Price cost all 15: no posted prices, no loan fees shown and the old tax-credit line. Missing installer certifications took 6. Being a younger company cost 2.
Kin Home is scored on the same rules as everyone, from public records. It has no business ties to us, and ads never shape a score.
No warranty page we could find
Kin Home’s website has no warranty page. We found no workmanship, roof-leak or production terms.
Its FAQ says a system “can be transferred easily” if you move, but it does not call that a warranty. Kin Home also sells roofing through a partner company and HVAC. Ask for every warranty in writing, with the number of years, before you sign.
