What does Energy Harbor charge in Ohio?
It depends on your utility and the length of the plan. Each row shows the utility's price to compare, Energy Harbor's lowest and highest price in that area, how many of its offers beat the utility's price, and its fees. Prices are cents per kWh for the power only.
| Utility | Price to compare | Lowest | Highest | Offers under the price | Highest cancel fee | Offers with a monthly fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AEP Ohio | 10.19¢ | 10.75¢ | 11.65¢ | 0 of 6 | $0 | 0 |

The chart lists each plan's term, and the lowest price is often a short plan. Look at the term, and at what happens when it ends, before you pick it. The offer text on the chart reads, "Avoid price swings with a fixed electricity rate ... with no monthly fees. Special offer for new, online customers." Energy Harbor's phone for home customers is 1-877-855-2424.
What would Energy Harbor cost my home?
Enter the price you were quoted and your monthly use. The checker prices it next to your utility's default. Use your own quote, not the table, because chart prices move and your written quote is what binds you. Online-only offers may differ from a phone quote.
- 1Pick your utility.
It is on your bill.
- 2Type the Energy Harbor price.
Use cents per kWh, such as 10.5.
- 3Add any monthly fee.
Type 0 if there is none.
- 4Type your kWh.
Find "kWh used" on a recent bill.
Treat the answer as a supply-only estimate. Delivery and taxes are not in it, and it cannot see a new price after the first term. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
Does Energy Harbor beat my utility's price?
Look at the "offers under the price" column. A "0 of" means none of its offers beat the utility's price in that area. A higher count means more of its plans do. Each 1¢ of gap is about $9 a month at 900 kWh. Beating the price to compare is not the same as being the cheapest. At CEI, the lowest fixed plan of 12 months or more with no fees was 10.09¢, sold by Powervine Energy LLC. Our Apples to Apples guide shows how to scan the whole chart.

What happened to Energy Harbor?
It changed its name in 2020 and its owner in 2024. Energy Harbor Corp. was formerly FirstEnergy Solutions, according to WTVG, a Toledo TV station. WTVG reported on Feb. 27, 2020 that the company had finished its Chapter 11 restructuring and changed its name. It was based in Akron.
- Before 2020The company was FirstEnergy Solutions, which sold power and ran power plants.
- Feb. 27, 2020It finished a Chapter 11 restructuring and became Energy Harbor, WTVG reported.
- Mar. 1, 2024Vistra completed its purchase of Energy Harbor. Vistra said it added about 1 million retail customers.
- TodayEnergy Harbor still sells plans under its own name, and still sets its own prices.
Your utility may still be a FirstEnergy company. Ohio Edison, CEI and Toledo Edison are. Those utilities deliver your power and send your bill. Energy Harbor is a separate seller of the power itself. A person at your door who says they are "with FirstEnergy" or "your utility" is not an Energy Harbor offer, and a seller may not claim to speak for your utility.
What happens when my Energy Harbor plan ends?
It depends on the contract, but the rules require notice. Under PUCO's rules, a fixed plan with no cancel fee that renews on its own must send one notice 45 to 90 days before it ends. The notice must state the new price and how to cancel. If you do nothing, you move to the new price.
Short plans end sooner. An 8-month plan means a notice about five to six months in. Put your end date on a calendar, and compare the new price with your utility's price to compare before the date. Our contract ending guide lists every notice a seller owes you.
- Ask for the price, term, every fee and the end-of-term price in writing.
- Ask whether the price is online-only, and what you lose if you sign by phone.
- Check your utility's price to compare before you agree.
- Do not give your bill or account number to a caller you did not call.
- A "fixed" price is only fixed for the term. Ask what comes next.
How do I leave Energy Harbor?
The table shows the highest cancel fee on the chart for each utility, but your contract sets your fee. Call 1-877-855-2424 to ask. Then pick a new seller from the chart or go back to your utility's price. You also have seven days to stop a new switch: your utility must send a confirmation letter, and the seven days start from its postmark date.
Test the Energy Harbor price you were quoted against your utility's price to compare. If it wins after any fee, read the term and what happens when it ends.
