Lumina Solar review: top credentials, and a warranty to pin down.

Lumina Solar has some of the best credentials we have seen, and only four BBB complaints. But its “lifetime warranty” has no written terms we could find, and a sister company owns its brand name. Here is what that means for you.

Short answer

Mostly, yes. Lumina Solar scores 62 out of 100 on our public-records formula. Two top groups vouch for it, and its own crews install. But its “lifetime warranty” has no written terms we could find. It posts no prices. And one page still talks up the 30% tax credit.

01 · Credentials

Some of the best credentials we have seen

Lumina earned all 6 certification points. Few installers we review can say that.

NABCEPAccredited company, plus 5 certified installation pros
EnphaseAccredited installer
3 licensesVerified active in MD, NJ and PA, Oct 2026
BBB A+Accredited since July 2025, 4 complaints

NABCEP is the top solar certification group. It vouches for Lumina as a company, and five of Lumina’s people hold its installer credential. Enphase makes the small boxes that run many systems, and it lists Lumina as a trusted installer too. Lumina’s own crews do the work. That earned all 12 points for who installs.

02 · Warranty

A “lifetime warranty”, with no terms in writing

Several Lumina pages promise a lifetime warranty. None says what it covers.

We searched Lumina’s whole site. Some pages praise its written guarantee but give no years. Its Maryland page says Fusion backs a lifetime warranty. We found no years for the work or for roof leaks. We found no power promise and no rules for selling your home.

Without written terms, our formula gives no credit for them. That cost Lumina 21 points. The fix is simple: before you sign, ask for the warranty itself, not the sales page.

Ask this too: if Lumina or Fusion closed, who would honor the warranty? No installer we review names an outside backup yet. How we score warranty backup.
03 · Who handles it

Lumina, Fusion and who stands behind your system

Lumina sells and installs. A sister company, Fusion Solar Services, backs the warranty and does the service work.

Who handles it?

Lumina Solar sells and installs. A sister company, Fusion Solar Services, backs its warranty and service. Pick what you want to know.

Pick an answer above.

Lumina’s legal and licensing page names Fusion as a related company. Maryland’s business records show Fusion has owned the “Lumina Solar” name since August 2023. Related companies do this often. But it means your warranty may come from a different company than the one that put in your panels.

04 · The score

How Lumina scores 62

Lumina earned full marks in four areas. Paperwork and price cost it 36 points.

Lumina missed 38 points. Warranty terms cost 21, since none are in writing online. Price cost all 15: no posted prices, no loan fees shown and an outdated tax-credit line. Being eight years old cost 2.

Lumina is held to the same formula as every company, using public records only. It has no business ties to us.

05 · Tax credit

An old tax-credit claim to ignore

One Lumina page still suggests buyers can claim the 30% federal credit. For buyers, that credit ended on December 31, 2025.

That line cost Lumina 4 points for honest tax-credit claims. If a quote subtracts 30%, ask for the price without it. Leases work differently, because the leasing company owns the system.

06 · BBB

Only four BBB complaints

Lumina has an A+ BBB grade and four complaints in three years. It answered all four.

Slow replies came up in three. Two were about money: one owner got less rebate money than expected, and another said a $2,000 fee was labeled as financing. One owner siad a battery backup kept shutting down. Four complaints is a light file for a company this size.

A 2018 robocall class action against Lumina settled in 2020, before the five-year window our formula uses, so it does not count.

07 · Licenses

Licenses checked in three states

We checked Lumina’s licenses on three state websites in October 2026. All three were active.

Maryland home improvement license 135907 runs to June 26, 2028. New Jersey license 13VH13327600 runs to March 31, 2027, and Pennsylvania registration PA148604 runs to June 11, 2028. Lumina sells in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C. Check the license in your state before you sign.
