How big is Trinity Solar?
Very big. Solar Power World ranks Trinity number 1 on its 2026 list of home solar installers.
The trade magazine counted about 137,530 kW of home solar that Trinity put in during 2025. That is enough to top its home solar list. On the full list, which counts all kinds of solar, Trinity is number 45. Trinity says it has put solar on more than 140,000 homes.
Trinity started in 1994 and is based in Wall Township, New Jersey. It sells in eight states, from Massachusetts down to Maryland and west to Pennsylvania. Big does not always mean better. So we scored Trinity the same way we score every company: on public records.
Check Trinity’s license and warranty in your state
Trinity lists license numbers for six of its eight states, plus Ohio. In Delaware and New York, you will need to ask.
Check Trinity’s license and warranty for your state
Pick your state and how you plan to pay. We will show the license to look up and the warranty to expect.
The numbers above come from Trinity’s own license page. Always check them on your state’s license website. A license number is the fastest way to confirm who you are hiring.
We checked four of these on state websites in October 2026. New Jersey license 13VH12957000, Massachusetts registration 170355, Massachusetts electrical license 8746-EL-A1 and Pennsylvania registration PA128551 were all active.
How Trinity scores 79
Trinity got full marks in four areas, from its legal record to its BBB grade. It lost 21 points, most of them on price.
Trinity posts no prices and shows no loan fees. That cost 11 points. Its contract terms cost 8 more: 4 for having no production guarantee, 3 because no outside company backs its warranty and 1 because its roof warranty is 5 years, not 10. The last 2 points went to a missing equipment-maker certification.
An earlier check left Trinity at 75. Our October 2026 review found no current page telling buyers they can still claim the 30% tax credit. That earned Trinity 4 more points.
One formula, one set of rules, public records only. Trinity pays us nothing, and ads never change a score.
10 years on labor, 5 on roof holes
Trinity’s warranty page lists 10 years on labor and 5 years on roof holes for people who pay cash.
Labor coverage is Trinity’s promise about the install work. Roof-hole coverage is about leaks where bolts go through your roof. Panels carry their own 25-year warranty from the maker. Inverters, the boxes that turn solar power into home power, get up to 12 years.
Leases and PPAs work differently. They come from partner companies, not Trinity. Trinity says those plans can carry up to 25 years of coverage. Trinity has no production guarantee, which would be a written promise about how much power you will make.
Trinity’s weak spot: getting help after the install
Most of Trinity’s BBB complaints are about service. In the newest ones we could read, people mostly said no one called back.
The BBB shows 229 complaints about Trinity in three years. It files 152 of them under service or repair. We read the 30 newest, from March 30 to August 25, 2026. Trinity answered all 30.
In 21 of those 30, people said they could not get a reply. One owner said calls went unanswered for about a month after the system stoped in May. Another said panels put in during August 2025 were still not switched on ten months later. Install and permit delays came up 13 times. Trinity said in August 2026 that its phone system had problems.
Thirty complaints are a sample of the file, not all of it, so read them as a warning sign. Complaints only cost points in our formula when the BBB flags a pattern, and Trinity has no such flag.
Who installs Trinity systems? Its own people, it implies
Trinity says “Trinity employees and installers live in the areas” it serves. We read that as its own crews.
Trinity never says outright that it skips subcontractors. But its wording points to its own people, and Solar Power World lists it as an installer. Under our rules, that counts as its own crews, worth all 12 points.
NABCEP, the top solar certification group, lists one Trinity installer in New Jersey with its top credential. We found no equipment-maker certification, such as Tesla or Enphase. Ask who will do your install and whether they are certified.
One robocall case, closed in 2022
In 2021, one person sued Trinity over sales calls and asked to make it a class action. The court closed the case in May 2022.
The case is Charman v. Trinity Solar, in federal court in Southern California. Both sides asked to end it, and the court dismissed it for good on May 26, 2022. No class was ever approved, and there was no group settlement. The court order does not say whether the person was paid.
Our formula counts class settlements and state actions, not single-person cases. So this one does not lower Trinity’s score. We found no state attorney general actions against Trinity since October 2021.
Trinity posts no prices. How to check a quote
You get Trinity’s price at a home visit. With no posted number, you will need a yardstick.
Trinity sells for cash or a loan. Leases and PPAs come through partner companies. Whatever you pick, ask for the total price, the price per watt and every fee. Then compare. Our price estimator shows what your size costs at companies that post prices.
The 30% federal tax credit ended for buyers on December 31, 2025. On the Trinity pages we checked, it does not claim otherwise. Trinity also says it does not promise savings, so ask how any savings number in your quote was figured.
