| Category | Points | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Complaints to the state | 15 / 25 | 3 of 5, the middle group, on the PUCT complaint scorecard, March 1 to August 31, 2026 |
| BBB rating | 2 / 5 | Not rated: the BBB says it lacks enough information to issue a grade. A missing grade earns 2 points under our rule, and we say so. Checked October 5, 2026. |
| Fines and penalties | 20 / 20 | No PUCT penalty or Texas Attorney General action against Rhythm Ops, LLC since it was licensed in October 2020 |
| Contract fairness | 12 / 20 | $20 for each whole month left on Digital Choice 12, so more than $200 if you leave early in the term (1 of 5); no arbitration clause or class-action waiver (4 of 4); four extra fees: disconnect notices, disconnection, agent payments and document copies (0 of 4); a simple fixed plan (4 of 4); 30 days for first-time customers to cancel free (3 of 3) |
| Price | 20 / 20 | Digital Choice 12 averages 12.4¢ at 1,000 kWh across Dallas (12.5¢) and Houston (12.3¢), 78% of EIA's 15.88¢ Texas average for July 2026. The price includes a $5 monthly autopay and paperless credit. |
| Time in business | 4 / 10 | Licensed October 21, 2020, almost 6 years (2); its terms describe a customer-funded energy assistance program (2); no published audited financials found (0) |
A simple fixed plan has one energy rate and no bill credits, usage tiers or time-of-use pricing. Digital Choice 12 qualifies; its $5 autopay and paperless credit doesn't depend on how much you use. Full method: how we score.

Pick your city and the usage closest to your bill. The finder ranks every Rhythm plan offered in your city and shows about what you'd pay each month.
When does Rhythm's cheapest plan cost more?
Max Saver 24 looks like a steal at 1,000 kWh: 8.7¢ in Dallas, thanks to a $125 bill credit. But the credit only comes in months you use 1,000 kWh or more. At 500 kWh the same plan costs 21.1¢, more than any other Rhythm plan.

Rule of thumb: Max Saver 24 only wins in months near 1,000 kWh. Use 999 kWh and you lose the whole $125; use 2,000 kWh and it costs more than Digital Choice 24. If your usage swings with the seasons, a Digital Choice plan is the safer bet, especialy in mild months.
